The traffic police department is observing a road safety week from January 1 to create awareness among motorists.

DCP (crime) Maheshwar Dayal said that the traffic police personnel stationed at Shankar Chowk near Cyber City and Iffco Chowk will carry out the campaign to spread the message that the police are citizen-friendly and they only want to ensure the safety of the residents.

Those breaking traffic rules will be presented a red flower, while those abiding by the rule will be given a yellow flower.

The traffic police are also holding seminars and talks in schools to create awareness about road safety measures.

The police personnel are also distributing handbills with messages on road safety and making arrangements for getting the eye sight of truck drivers checked at several places. A special drive will be carried out on Sunday to put reflector tapes on tractor trolleys, said an official.
