Organisers gave Rs50 lakh security

The adage once bitten twice shy aptly fits the Gurgaon administration.
Taking a cue from the Metallica show, which was cancelled due to a technical fault and security reasons in October last year, the administration, this time, had made the organisers of Eristoff Invasion-2012, featuring renowned DJ David Guetta, deposit R50 lakh before the show.
It had also asked for a no-objection certificate (NOC), to cover up any losses if the event failed to take place.
The police had also turned down the organiser’s request to serve liquor in the VVIP enclosures during the show, forcing the organisers to scrap the enclosure altogether.
Police personnel in plain clothes were also deployed to keep an eye on peoples’ movement.
Gurgaon deputy commissioner PC Meena said, “We have already received a demand draft of Rs50 lakh in the name of deputy commissioner, Gurgaon, from the organiser. Earlier, we had also taken a bank guarantee of Rs1 crore from the organisers of Metallica to protect the interest of ticket buyers.”
The David Guetta show did not witness any untoward incident and went off peacefully.
The organisers had made adequate arrangements for the event.
More than 6,000 tickets were sold. There were about 25 entry and exit gates and ample space for spectators. “We provided adequate space to people and also arranged food counters,” said Neysa, representing the organisers.
