Unitech has started sending letters to each buyer, saying encroachment of Huda land to be used for a link road between the township and main road was the reason behind the delay.

"We were hopeful of timely possession but an unexpected development that has impeded and affected our completion schedule is the encroachment of Huda land which leads to Uniworld Garden-2. This land has been illegally occupied by squatters and despite our sincere efforts and persuasion, they have not vacated the land," the letter says.

"We have also reported the matter to Huda. The land or passage to the project site is very vital for completion of the project," said a senior executive of the Unitech Limited.

On the other hand, Huda administrator Praveen Kumar denied the charges, saying there is no connection between the land outside the site and the project’s completion.

"The land is outside the site and it has not been encroached upon. People have been living there for years. The developer was supposed to negotiate with these residents and find a solution," said Kumar, adding that there is straightaway link road to the site from Sohna Road.

Meanwhile, buyers have decided to reply to the letter under the banner of a RWA they formed and got registered a week ago.
"The builder wants to deviate and weaken our protest. We are trying to mobilise all buyers through Facebook," said a buyer.
