Woman found dead at home in Bilaspur Khurd, kin allege dowry aspect
The woman’s parents alleged that their daughter has been murdered by her husband and in-laws, who had been harassing her for dowry.
Gurugram A 26-year-old married woman was found hanging at her residence on Monday evening in Bilaspur Khurd village, the police said on Tuesday. However, the police are also probing the angle of murder, as injury marks were found on the woman’s body.
The woman’s parents alleged that their daughter has been murdered by her husband and in-laws, who had been harassing her for dowry, according to the police.
According to Arun Kumar, the station house officer of Bilaspur police station, the woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan by her brother-in-law on Monday around 5pm.
“We are looking at the murder aspect also. The woman’s body had injury marks on her waist and head,” said Kumar.
The investigating officer, sub-inspector Subash Yadav, said in the complaint that the woman’s father stated that the husband and in-laws had been harassing their daughter for a while.
“The post-mortem examination was conducted at Civil Hospital on Monday. The cause of death will be known once the viscera report is out,” said Yadav.
The police said the woman had been married for six years and her husband, a shop owner, is on the run.
A case has been registered against the woman’s husband and her in-laws under sections 304 B (dowry death) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at Bilaspur police station.
