British Columbia-based Vampt said that its forthcoming Lean Machine beer has just 7 grams of protein at only 77 calories pop, making it a perfect option for drinkers apt to belly up to a bench press, the New York Daily News reported.

Other beers aimed at active lifestyles have fewer calories, but contain no protein and none of Lean Machine's replenishing nutrients and anti-oxidants, Vampt founder Ian Toews said.

Along with a proprietary protein, Vampt's Gator-ale is brewed to include other key nutrients such as glutamine, Vitamin C, Zinc and sodium and potassium.

The Canadian Lean Machine beer will be marketed as a sports drink as it contains nutrients such as glutamine, Vitamin C, Zinc and sodium and potassium.
