Is Mark Strong the new James Bond villain? Trainer spills the beans
Mark Strong’s personal trainer might have let the cat out of the bag and revealed that the veteran actor, who has played several onscreen villains, is joining Daniel Craig in Bond 25.
Mark Strong, an actor known for playing villains onscreen, is rumoured to be joining Daniel Craig in his fifth and final James Bond film. A video featuring Strong training for ‘a new project’ posted on Instagram by his personal trailer, carries several Bond-related hashtags. The video was subsequently taken down and re-uploaded, without the hashtags.
Trainer Giacomo Farci’s video shows Strong doing pushups in preparation for a new role, and has hashtags such as James Bond, Bond25, Daniel Craig, 007 and even the film’s director, Danny Boyle and producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson.
Strong has played villains in films such as Sherlock Holmes, Kick-Ass, Stardust, Green Lantern and the upcoming Shazam!. Of course, the video doesn’t confirm what character he will play, let alone if it is a villainous one.
It was previously rumoured that the producers were courting Helena Bonham-Carter and Angelina Jolie for the main villain’s role for the film, due out in November 2019. Mads Mikkelsen, Mathieu Amalric, Javier Bardem and Christophe Waltz have played primary antagonists to Craig’s 007.
Boyle was recently confirmed as director after his pitch was met with enthusiasm by Broccoli and Wilson, the sibling duo behind Eon Productions. The film will conclude Daniel Craig’s run as the iconic British spy, whom he has played in four of the series most successful films.
