The Irishman leads Critics’ Choice Awards nominations, Joker edges out Avengers Endgame

Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman led with 12 nods at the Critics’ Choice Awards nominations, while Joker edged out fellow comic book movie Avengers: Endgame.

Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman leads the Critics’ Choice Awards nominations, which were announced on Sunday. The sprawling mob epic has scored 14 nods, including best director and best picture. Stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci also scored acting noms.

The Irishman was followed by Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which scored 12 nominations. Todd Phillips’ comic book blockbuster Joker edged out Avengers: Endgame. While the DC drama scored seven nods, the Marvel extravaganza managed three.

Greta Gerwig’s Little Women scored nine nods while her partner Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and Sam Mendes’ war movie 1917 received eight nominations.

Netflix’s When They See Us led the TV category with six nods, followed by This is Us and Schitt’s Creek with five nods, and HBO’s Barry, Game of Thrones, Watchmen and Chernobyl; Amazon’s Fleabag; FX’s Fosse/Verdon; Netflix’s The Crown; CBS All Access’ The Good Fight; and Netflix’s Unbelievable with four noms each.
