“Untill the morning of November 8, they used to ask what is Modi doing against black money, and now they lament why Modi did this (demonetisation) against black money,” Shah said while addressing BJPs Parivartan rally at SGVS college in Mahrajganj district.

He said Modi was for the poor, and his decision to scrap 1,000 and 500 rupee banknotes had drowned the black money of present and former chief ministers Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. Shah said that Modi wants to bring parivartan (change) in the country but the state government blocking it.

“Do you support PM’s initiative of demonetisation or Bua-Bhatija (Akhilesh and Mayawati)?,” Shah asked the crowd.

Taking on other political rivals, Shah accused the Congress government of committing a massive scam of Rs 12 lakh crores during their 10 years at the Centre, and claimed opponents will not be able to find any cases of corruption against the ruling BJP since NDA came to power in 2014.

Shah’s speech was further buoyed by the fact that the BJP recently municipal elections in Maharashtra and Gujarat, apart from retaining to Lok Sabha seats and winning three assembly seats in last week’s bypolls. Modi had claimed the elections showed the people’s faith in the party.

Speaking for 20 minutes, the BJP leader said the recall of the high value rupee notes had cut into the fake currency racket at the Indo-Nepal border through Mahrajganj. He also said there had been a drop in infiltration bids across the Line of Control.

“At Indo-Pak border gunfire was usual before the BJP government came to power. The earlier government remained silent even when our jawan were beheaded. Today, under BJP government, nobody can dare to touch our boundaries. The way the Indians troop carried out surgical strikes in Pok within 10 days of Uri attack left the entire world , including Pakistan surprised,” he said.

Apart from the demonetisation issue, Shah also raised issues such as triple talaq, welfare schemes and migration from Uttar Pradesh in search of jobs. Shah said the BJP will create more jobs and fight for women’s rights.
