Death by selfie: Two BTech students drown at Nagarjuna Sagar in Telangana
Two engineering students died while attempting a selfie in a canal in Telangana’s Khammam district on Saturday.

The youth, identified as 21-year-old Parmeswar Reddy , and 20-year-old Nagarjuna were swept away by currents while taking a photograph in the Nagarjuna Sagar canal.
The two were part of a group of four friends from a nearby private college who were visiting the canal. The surviving duo told police that Parameswar and Nagarjuna had lost balance.

According to a Washington Post report this January, India had the highest number of selfie-related deaths globally in 2015. People were run over by trains, tipped boats over, slipped in rivers and were washed away by waves while taking selfies.
Such has been the problem in Mumbai that the civic government has begun marking selfie danger zones.
