Earlier on Monday, the Centre released revised guidelines issued by AIIMS, ICMR - COVID 19 National Task Force and Joint Monitoring Group (DGHS) wherein it asked doctors to avoid giving injectable steroids to patients not requiring oxygen supplementation or in continuation, after discharge, because that can lead to a risk of secondary infection like mucormycosis or ‘black fungus’.
For “mild, moderate and severe” cases of Covid-19 infection, the government said home isolation and care is sufficient, along with regular monitoring of body temperature and oxygen saturation.
In case of breathlessness with a fluctuating oxygen saturation between 90-93 per cent, the patient can get admitted. They will be considered moderate cases and should be given oxygen support, the guidelines stated.
