“I am worried about the life of my family. We request the administration to ensure our security,” Gupta said over the phone.

The local police have deployed a police picket outside his residence in Gandhi market area taking cognisance of Gupta’s complaint.

“We are looking into the complaint registered by Sushil Gupta. A team from Kotwali police is investigating the matter,” Kasganj superintendent of police Piyush Srivastav said.

All major markets opened on Friday, a week after the clashes and the administration also ordered all government and private schools in the district to start their classes.

“We have issued a fresh alert considering the Friday prayers in Muslim dominated areas of the city. Members of the peace committee are constantly in touch with people of both the communities to avoid any untoward incident,” said the SP.

Abhishek alias Chandan was killed after communal clashes broke out in the small town nearly 340km northwest of Lucknow following a skirmish during a Tiranga Yatra in Baddu Nagar on Republic Day. Police have registered eight FIRs and arrested 123 people so far in cases related to the communal clashes.
