A woman in North Gujarat early on Monday tied her husband to the bed and then poured acid on his face, for allegedly neglecting her for many years, the police said.
The man, the police said, sustained burn injuries and is undergoing treatment.
“The woman felt that she had been neglected by her husband. She also believed that he did not value her for all these years; they have been married for 20 years,” said Bhiloda ASI Gautam Balubhai, adding that a case pertaining to “acid attack and illegally tying the man has been registered against Falguni”.
The woman is yet to be arrested.
The couple had been living in Ahmedabad but were on a visit to their native place in North Gujarat.
The police said that during the early hours of Monday, Falguni tied her husband Ramesh,47, at their home in Sunsar village. Ramesh, in a statement to the police, said he tried to escape, but failed to untie himself.
Ramesh, however, was saved by his daughter and niece, who were in another room and rushed to his aid after hearing his screams. “The two girls managed to stop Falguni, which limited the injuries,’’ said the police.
