Mumbai girl scores 99.6% to top ICSE exam

Juhi Kajaria from Juhu’s Jamnabai Narsee School scored 99.6% marks in the Class 10 exams, becoming one of two toppers across India.

A Class 10 girl from Mumbai was one of two national toppers of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) board exams, and three Class 12 students from Mumbai and Thane featured on the list of national toppers in the Indian School Certificate (ISC) board exams, the results of which were declared by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations on Tuesday.

Manhar Bansal, from Little Flower Convent School in Punjab’s Muktsar, is the other topper. Four of 10 students who came second (scoring 99.4%) are from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Of the 24 students who ranked third (all scoring 99.2%), nine are from MMR.

A total of 21,038 students appeared for the Class 10 ICSE exams, from 208 schools in Maharashtra.

year, recording a 99.85% success rate.

Schools said there was a sharp increase in the number of Class 10 students scoring 90% or more.

Teachers felt scores were high because students performed well subjects like mathematics and social sciences.

Among the Class 12 national toppers is Mihika Samant from Chembur’s St Gregorious School, who was ranked second rank after scoring 99.75%.

Two students from Thane’s Sulochanadevi Singhania School – Shreya Raj and Nimish Wadekar — scored 99.50% and were ranked third across India.

In the Class 12 results, the state recorded a success rate of 99.27%. A total of 2,737 students took the exams from 44 schools in the state.

The exam was conducted in 60 written subjects, of which 22 are Indian languages.
