IAS officers on Sunday denied Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s allegation that they were on strike, calling his statements “completely political”.
Kejriwal and his three cabinet colleagues have been on a sit-in protest at Delhi lieutenant governor Anil Baijal’s residence-cum-office, saying he should make IAS officers, who form the leadership of the civil service, cooperate with his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
“I would like to inform that we are not on strike. The information that IAS officers in Delhi are on strike is completely false and baseless,” said Manisha Saxena, a member of the IAS Association at a press conference in Delhi.
“Let us do our work. We are feeling frightened and victimised. We are being used for completely political reasons,” said Varsha Joshi, Delhi’s transport commissioner and member of the IAS Association.
AAP and other opposition leaders plan a protest march to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in Delhi to press for their demands.
