Following a tip-off, the police raided a shack in the slum area of Trashu village and recovered a packet of 71 counterfeit Indian currency notes of denomination of Rs 500 from a shack.
The police arrested Vikram Kumar, 35.
Kangra SP Balbir Thakur said the officials at the Kangra police station got a tip-off about a drug trafficking in the slum area.
“A team was sent to raid a shack in the area which was allegedly being used as supply point by the traffickers,” Thakur said, adding that the official found fake currency during the search.
Kumar has been sent to police custody till June 28 by a local court. The police said the accused had confessed to have used some fake currency notes in Kangra town.
“He has not revealed the source from where he brought the fake currency,” said the police.
