11 ministers among 135 nominations for assembly polls
Eleven ministers were among 135 candidates who filed nominations for assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Orissa.
Eleven ministers were among 135 candidates who filed their nominations today for assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Orissa being held simultaneously with the first phase of parliamentary polls on April 20.
In Andhra Pradesh state Home Minister and senior TDP leader T Devender Goud filed his papers at Medchel in Ranga Reddy district.
Six other minister entered the poll fray -- N Janardhan Reddy from Nagarkurnool, P Chandrasekhar from Mahaboobnagar, T Seetharam from Amadalavalasa, T Srinivas Yadav from Secunderabad, K Vijayarama Rao from Khairatabad and T Nageshwar Rao from Sathupalli.
A total of 69 nominations were filed on the third day of filing of papers in the state where 144 assembly seats would go to polls in the first phase.
Orissa minister Ananga Uday Singh Deo filed his papers from Balangir, and his colleagues Surya Narayan Patra from Mohana, Mangala Kishan from Rajgangpur-ST (all BJD) and Himanshq Sekhar Meher of BJP from Junagarh.
Besides, former union minister Debendra Pradhan also filed his papers for Pallahara assembly constituency.
BJP nominee and deputy speaker Ram Chandra Panda from Chhatrapur was among the 17 people who filed their papers for assembly elections. In Orissa 77 of the total 147 seats go to polls on April 20.
In Karnataka state unit AIADMK Secretary V A Pugazhendi entered the poll fray from Gandhinagar assembly constituency.
As many as 49 people filed their papers for the 120 assembly seats going to polls in the first phase.
