Four Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorists were arrested on Tuesday and one kg of RDX as well as detonators and other material required for making bombs recovered from their possession, police said in Chandigarh.
The arrests come a day after BKI Indian operations chief Paramjit Singh Bheora was nabbed by Delhi Police on Monday.
Officials in Chandigarh said the four were from one of the modules created by Bheora and his associates to revive Sikh terrorism in Punjab.
Besides the explosives, one AK-47 rifle was also recovered from them.
Security in Punjab has been heightened following the arrests, which comes just a couple of days before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh goes to Amritsar on Thursday to flag off the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service between India and Pakistan. He will also pay obeisance at the Golden Temple.
Bheora had escaped from the high-security Burail prison in Chandigarh on Jan 21, 2004, along with top Sikh terrorist Jagtar Singh Hawara and two others after digging a nearly 100-feet tunnel from their barrack.
Delhi Police had arrested Hawara last year in June.
Police here and in the state along with their Delhi counterparts have been raiding various places in north India to bust the terrorist network created by Bheora and others in recent months.
