Dharmapuri, Mar 27 (PTI) Five women, who were part of a tourist team of 48, were drowned in the Cauvery at Hogennakal today, police said.

The 48 tourists, from Indira Nagar in Bangalore, were bathing in the river at its Crocodile Bank, when the strong currents washed away the five women.

The rest 43 were rescued by fire service personnel, police and the public, they said.
The five bodies were not yet recovered, police said.
