Fifty-seven aspirants, five of them candidates for the Lok Sabha, today filed their nomination papers to contest the ensuing elections.

Prafulla Das and Kanda Charan Nayak of the BSP filed their papers to contest from the Bhadrak(SC) and Mayurbhanj (ST) parliamentary seats respectively while Malay Choudhuri submitted his papers to contest as the Bharatiya Manavata Vikash Party (BMVP) candidate from Balasore.

Fifty-two candidates also submitted their papers to contest the assembly polls.
