MORE THAN 900 examiners were barred from checking the answersheets in this year’s High School and Intermediate examinations conducted by Uttar Pradesh Madhymik Shiksha Parishad . A decision to this effect was taken by the Parishad on the ground of laxity in evaluation work. Besides, these examiners were found not well versed with their respective subjects. Majority of these examiners were of Mathematics, Social Science and English.
Sources said out of 920 examiners, 608 did not take part in the training programme organised by the Board. Other examiners despite being trained had committed laxity in checking copies. The Board had this year clearly pointed out that those teachers who failed to undergo training should not be given answersheets.
Strict vigil would also be kept on those examiners who preferred to take extra copies for checking.
The Board had become more strict following several complaints registered by the deputy chief examiners of several evaluation centres in Lucknow, Meerut, Varanasi, Kanpur and Allahabad regions during last years’ evaluation. They said majority of examiners did not attend the training programme. Only 45 per cent examiners attended the programme on the first day. The teachers barred from evaluating answersheets this year included 320 in Allahabad, 280 in Meerut, 100 in Varanasi and 170 in Bareli regions .
Official sources said the Parishad was contemplating to blacklist all those examiners for life who did not attend the training programme this year. A special attendance chart was being readied by the Board in this regard. Officials had warned stringent action against the deputy chief examiner in case clerks were found evaluating the answersheets.
To recall, officials had nabbed one dozen clerks checking copies in last year’s evaluation work.
