After two months, Sly says yes to Bollywood
Sajid Nadiadwala signs on Sylvester Stallone for Kambakkht Ishq, a romantic comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. Stallone plays a Hollywood stuntman. Hiren Kotwani reports.
Sajid Nadiadwala has signed on Sylvester Stallone for his next film Kambakkht Ishq, a romantic comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor.
Stallone plays himself in the film in which Kumar’s character is a Hollywood stuntman. Directed by first-timer Sabir Khan, it will be the first Bollywood film to be shot in Hollywood’s Universal Studios.
It is believed that it took more than two months to get Stallone on board, after meeting his agents and then finally the actor himself. “Keeping Akshay’s character in mind, it’s important to include action heroes in the cast,” said Nadiadwala.
Stallone, however, will not be doing any of the stunts in Kambakkht Ishq. “Stallone has some very important scenes, while Akshay is his body double,” Nadiadwala added.
The producer has also signed up stunt director Spiro Razatos for the thrills in Kambakkht Ishq. Razatos has been the man behind Hollywood action flicks like Vantage Point and Bad Boys II. “There will be some never-seen kind of action in the film,” said Nadiadwala.
“When we started work on the film, we were aware of the kind of people we’ll be teaming up with. We have conditioned ourselves to their ways of working. I don’t think there will be any problems on this front,” he said.
“Even though Stallone and the other international stars will speak their lines in English, it is a Hindi film. It will be shot in sync sound so we won’t be dubbing it later.”
