Another cop quits after BBC film
Pc Keith Cheshire, suspended from North Wales Police following the BBC film against racism, is the tenth officer to resign.
The BBC documentary "The Secret Policeman" has led to the resignation of ten police officers. Pc Keith Cheshire, who was suspended from North Wales Police following the documentary, which investigated racism in the police service, is the tenth officer to resign.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: "I can confirm that Pc Keith Cheshire has now resigned." The officer had been facing a disciplinary hearing following the BBC programme. The documentary was an undercover footage filmed over seven months by reporter Mark Daly at the Bruche Training School in Warrington, Cheshire.
Deputy chief constable of North Wales Police Clive Wolfendale said: "This marks the conclusion of the internal investigation following "The Secret Policeman", though of course we continue our efforts within the organisation and with our communities to ensure that racism does not have a part in North Wales Police."
However, last month, the investigators probing racist comments made by ten police officers on the TV documentary said there was insufficient evidence for criminal proceedings to be brought against the majority of officers involved.
But the spokeswoman confirmed two officers from the North Wales force and Greater Manchester Police were still being investigated.
The total number of resignations now include six officers from Greater Manchester Police, two from Cheshire, and two from north Wales.
