The actor’s name continued to trend on social networking site Twitter all of Tuesday, a day after he spoke at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism award ceremony. Users marked their protest against the actor after he said he was “alarmed” by the incidents of violence, adding that his wife Kiran Rao had even suggested leaving the country.

But all the verbal criticism online was not enough as several users decided to go a step further -– they are now directing their ire at Snapdeal, of which Khan is the brand ambassador, with hashtags ‘Appwapsi’ and ‘NoToSnapdeal’ growing popular. Those actively participating in this campaign also posted screenshots of them deleting the Snapdeal app from their cell phones.

Some protestors have even taken to the reviews section of the app to express their ire, flooding it with single-stars and comments on the company’s association with the Bollywood star. Hardly any of the comments in the first few pages have anything to do with the app itself.

When questioned on the ongoing protest, a Snapdeal spokesperson said, “We are not commenting on the situation.”

Many have also promised to boycott the actor’s films.

Users have warned the website that they would not purchase from them anymore unless Aamir Khan is dismissed as the company’s ambassador.
