In a desecration attempt, unidentified persons planted an egg shell inside a holy book of a minority community at Chembur in north east Mumbai recently, police said on Thursday.
An egg shell wrapped in a newspaper was found inserted in the holy book inside a place of worship in Chembur camp locality in the early hours of July 26 when the place was opened for devotees, police said.

Authorities at the place of worship immediately brought the issue to the notice of the local police, police added.
Security around the place has been further increased and a close watch is being kept on places of worship in other parts of the city.
