AU students? torch procession today
ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) students will take out a torch procession on Monday to demand increase in seats and reduction in the hostel fee. The students demanded that AU Vice-Chancellor Prof RG Harshe must hold an emergency meeting of the AU Admission Committee and take a decision on increasing the seats before going on leave from August 1.

The students demanded that AU Vice-Chancellor Prof RG Harshe must hold an emergency meeting of the AU Admission Committee and take a decision on increasing the seats before going on leave from August 1.
Student leaders including Rajesh Singh, Suresh Yadav, Brijendra Mishra, Vijay Dwivedi, Rinku Rai, Sunil Dwivedi, Vikas Singh, Shiv Babu Saroj, Sanjay Singh, Pradep Dwivedi, Deepak Shukla, Komal Pandey, Amit Singh, Ishu Sonkar, Sanjeev Rai, Ziya Rizvi, Santosh Yadav and many others carried out an awareness campaign in the hostels and delegacies in support of their demands. The student leaders urged the students to support the torch procession and fight for their rights.
The student leaders threatened to intensify the demonstration and warned of dire consequences if the varsity authorities failed to meet their demands.
ISDC hunger strike: Students of Ishwar Sharan Degree College (ISDC) led by student union vice-president Ashutosh Tripathi and Awanish Tiwari continued their hunger strike against principal Dr Anand Shankar Singh. The students accused Dr Singh of indulging in corruption and demanded his dismissal. The students threatened to take the demonstration to roads if the college management failed to take any decision by Monday. They expressed resentment against the principal and said that they would fight against corruption and bring down the principal who had been supporting anti-social elements.
Those present on the venue of hunger strike were ISDC student union president Vishal Shukla, Durgesh Shukla, Kuldeep Dwivedi, Nanadan Mishra, Pawan Shukla, Krishna Kumar Tripathi, Abhishek Dubey, Shyamji Shukla, Manoj Tiwari and many among others.
BA admissions: Chairman BA Admission Committee Prof BN Mishra said that all general candidates scoring 96 percent, SC candidates 66 percent and above and all ST candidates who had appeared in UGAT-2006 were directed to report for admission to BA-I at Pravesh Bhawan on July 31, 2006 at 8.30 am along with their admit cards (UGAT-2006), original High School, Intermediate or equivalent examination pass mark sheet, Certificate, TC (School leaving certificate is not acceptable, for private students, affidavit required) Caste certificate and Weightage (if any), with one passport size colour photograph, photocopy of documents and cash fee as prescribed in the bulletin of UGAT 2006.
AU notice : AU Proctor Prof Jata Shankar said that heads and teachers of various departments had expressed dissatisfaction over the unruly behaviour of student leaders. Hence, it had been decided to postpone PG admissions scheduled for 31 July. Fresh schedule of admissions would be announced by individual departments. Henceforth, the venue for all PG admissions would be Pravesh Bhawan, Chaitham Lines Campus. As per new schedule, all PG admissions would commence from August 2 from 9 am to 12 pm.
