Bandh hits normal life in Jammu
Normal life has been affected after several political parties and social outfits call a bandh in protest against the militant attack that left 6 people dead.
Normal life was disrupted in the city on Monday in response to a bandh called by several political parties and social outfits against the militant attack in Samba that left six persons, including a lensman, dead.
Shops, markets and commercial establishments were shut and public and private transport was off the road, official sources said, adding attendance in offices and banks was also thin.
Different political parties have called Monday's bandh in protest against the militant strike at Samba on Sunday. Eight persons, including two militants, were killed and several others injured during 12-hours long encounter.
The political parties supporting the bandh are Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, National Conference, BJP, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and Shiv Sena.
Jammu Bar Association has also extended support to the bandh and has suspended work in high court and subordinate courts.
The bandh is also being observed in many areas of Samba and Kathua districts of Jammu division. However, it did not evoke much response in districts of Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch and Doda, the sources said.
