Addressing the meeting, SP Adarsh Katiyar told the bankers that they should install close circuit televisions (CTVs) at their ATM counters and also at banks, especially near the cash counters. The police officials felt that this would go a long way in deterring criminals who dupe the unsuspecting customers.

The bankers were told that their security personnel should be instructed to keep their eyes open for persons loitering about the bank without any apparent work. To increase security in the bank premises bankers were requested to have private security guards since it was not possible for the police to monitor the activities of all the banks in the district.

The SP said that police would bring out a number of posters and banners that could be put up both inside the banks and outside to create awareness among the bank customers so that they do not become victims of a crime.

To check credit card frauds by the men employed by the banks themselves, the banks were told that they should carefully check the antecedents of the people they were employing. The representatives of almost all the nationalised, private and cooperative banks took part in the meeting in which the area CSPs, police station in-charges and additional SPs were present.
