The district bar association of Gurgaon on Friday constituted its election committee that will hold the bar elections scheduled for April 4.

The bar council of Punjab and Haryana had earlier issued a circular in this regard to all bar associations in both the states. This is the first time that elections will be held in the two states together.

The executive committee of the Gurgaon bar, in its meeting appointed advocate Choudhary Dharamveer as the chief election officer and ten other lawyers as election officials.

Nominations for the post of president, secretary, vice-president, joint secretary and treasurer will be from March 23 to 25.

Names can be withdrawn before March 27. According to Gurgaon district bar rules, an existing office bearer cannot file nomination for the same post.

Bar secretary Bal Kishen Bhardwaj said that such a rule was made to promote fair play and give everyone a chance.
