LAWYERS, WHO are the torch-bearers of society, should unite at this juncture and support a party which has done a lot for them, said Rajya Sabha member and former State advocate-general Virendra Bhatia here on Saturday.
He was addressing a meeting of lawyers organised by the Samajwadi Adhivakta Sabha at Hindustani Academy.
Bhatia said the Samajwadi Party was the only party which had taken care of the self-respect of the lawyers and had provided huge funds for construction of lawyers’ chambers throughout the state.
Bhatia urged the lawyers to expose another party which was selling tickets and believed in the politics of dividing the society.
Bhatia expressed the hope that with the lawyers’ support, the Samajwadi Party would come to power in UP again.
He listed the work done by the Samajwadi Party and said they included unemployment allowance, Kanya Dhan scheme, farmers’ insurance policy, enhancement of medical budget, programmes for traders and teachers. No other government had taken these steps, he added.
Presiding over the programme, Allahabad District Court Bar Association president Vinod Chandra Dubey said lawyers were grateful to Bhatia, as he got several welfare schemes for them passed by the state government.
He said that the Samajwadi Adhivakta Sabha would fulfil the dream of Lohia and Mulayam Singh to set up a society based on the principles of socialism.
The programme was conducted by Shree Rang Pandey and the vote of thanks was proposed by Vinay Pratap Yadav, state secretary of the Samajwadi Adhivakta Sabha.
Among others who addressed the gathering were Ram Kishun Yadav, Iftekhar Ahmed, Danish Iqbal Faridi and Praveen Shukla.
