BJP accuses Cong of political hobnobbing
Tripura unit of the BJP accused the opposition Congress of hobnobbing with the ruling CPI-M in the state to help the latter in the Lok Sabha polls.
Tripura unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday accused the opposition Congress of hobnobbing with the ruling CPI-M in the state to help the latter in the Lok Sabha polls.
Ranjoy Deb, president of state BJP, alleged the Congress intentionally fielded low profile candidates against the CPI(M) in the two lokLsabha seats.
" Such political bankruptcy of Congress is aimed at giving the CPI-M political mileage and ensure its win from both the Lok Sabha seats", he told reporters.
Deb said his state unit was interested to put up a strong candidate in West Tripura constituency to give a good fight to CPI-M which, according to him, was not possible for Nationalist Trinamool Congress, another NDA partner.
The BJP has announced the name of Pulin Dewan for the contest from East Tripura reserve constituency and the NTC put up it's state unit president, Amal Mallik for West Tripura constituency.
"People want that we also field our candidate in West Tripura constituency to fight the elections effectively against the CPI-M candidate", Deb said, adding the decision was communicated to the central leadership of BJP.
To a question he said there may be a friendly fight also between NTC and BJP because in Shillong and in two seats in Arunachal Pradesh, the NTC have fielded their candidate against the BJP.
