The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top leadership seems to be in no mood to announce its chief ministerial candidate for Jharkhand, set to go to polls later this year.

BJP president Amit Shah on Monday told party workers in clear terms that the election will be fought in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Workers should not waste energy to find out who would be the chief ministerial face. Jharkhand will go to polls under Narendra Modi’s guidance and he will be the face of the party here,” Shah said addressing a gathering of at least 20,000 workers in capital Ranchi’s Prabhat Tara ground.

Since its creation in 2000, the BJP has ruled Jharkhand for at least eight years, but the party never got a clear majority. In Jharkhand BJP, there are at least four CM candidates.

They are ex-chief minister Arjun Munda, BJP national vice-president and Jamshedpur East legislator Raghuvar Das, former union minister Yashwant Sinha and a minister of state in the Modi cabinet Sudarshan Bhagat.

Shah arrived in Ranchi from Kolkata on Sunday evening and left for Delhi on Monday evening. During his 24-hours stay, the architect of BJP’s landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh in the parliamentary polls, held a series of meetings with party workers and exhorted them to present a united face.

Taking a dig at the efforts by opposition parties in the state to forge a mega alliance to keep the BJP from attaining full majority, Shah said the ‘Maha-gathbandhan’ (mega alliance) would prove to be ‘apawaitra gathbandhan’ (unholy alliance) and asked people to foil their unholy designs.

Shah said the BJP would bag a two-third majority and bring an end to the perennial coalition government here.
