BJP stages road blockade in Thane

The district unit of the BJP staged a road blockade at nearly fifty locations in Thane to draw the government's attention towards issues like soaring prices and water as well as power shortage.

Local and state leaders including the BJP MLC Sanjay Kelkar, Thane district coordinator Bhai Girkar, MLA Vishnu Sawra, MLC Vindoa Tawde, former MP Chintaman Wanga led the agitation on Thursday, in which thousands of party workers took part across the district.

Meanwhile, leader of BJP women's wing Manisha Chowdhary who led the agitation at Manor near Palghar, alleged that Deputy Superintendent of Police of the region manhandled her during the agitation.

The women who intensfied their agitation after this incident, later called it off following the assurance from senior district officials who apologised for the act.

Police said the agitation was peaceful but the traffic was disrupted for a few hours.
