The bomb threat call prompted police to carry out an elaborate search at the LIC building at Nagpura area of Surat on Saturday morning.
The call later turned out to be a hoax. An anonymous caller informed the LIC manager over telephone about a bomb threat in the building, they said. The manager passed on information to the police.
A thorough search by the sniffer dog and bomb disposal squad resulted in the recovery of a plastic bottle with a watch atop it, placed underneath the staircase of the LIC building, they said. The device was found to be innocuous and was destroyed, the police added.
