The Mahim police were put to test when the control room received a call in the afternoon saying that a bomb was planted in the Mahim dargah, reports Megha Sood.
The Mahim police were put to test on Monday when an alcoholic suddenly felt like checking the efficiency of the cops. Nassir Abdul Gafoor Ansari, a resident of the slums near the Mahim dargah apparently only wanted to check how fast the police swing into action.
According to VM Latpate, senior police inspector of Mahim police station, the control room received a call in the afternoon saying that a bomb was planted in the Mahim dargah.
The caller identified himself as a resident of Juhu and told them that his name was Salim.
A bomb disposal squad and three teams of the Mahim police team rushed to the dargah and a through search of the premises was made but nothing was found, Latpate said. The mobile number, from which the call was made, was then traced to Ansari (38).
He was arrested on charges of making hoax calls. “When we asked him why he called the police, Ansari said that he just wanted to see within how much time the police could reach the spot,” Latpate said.
He added that Ansari was an alcoholic and that he had called 100 in an inebriated condition.
