Campaign dhamaka after diwali

ELECTIONEERING FOR the by-elections in Vidisha Lok Sabha and Bada Malehra assembly constituencies is yet to gain momentum despite Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s tours in Vidisha, the constituency he represented five times in the past.

Sources in Congress and BJP say that the campaigning is likely to gather momentum once the Diwali festival is over. 

Although both the parties have prepared lists of star campaigners, the final picture will be clear after confirmation from their respective high commands.  However, the chief minister, in all likelihood will be in command in Vidisha, which he has represented in the past for five times. He is scheduled to address 18 meetings on October 18 in the constituency.

He would visit six places in helicopter and the rest by road. Although the party has decided on Jansangh style of campaigning, extensive use of choppers by senior BJP leaders is also a part of the campaigning.   Absence of high-profile candidates is also a factor behind lacklustre campaign.  It was evident from the day BJP’s Rampal Singh filed his
nomination.
