Cancer kills Tripura editor
Dhiraj Guha, renowned social activist and editor of a leading Bengali newspaper, died in Agartala late on Friday, family sources said on Saturday.
Dhiraj Guha, renowned social activist and editor of a leading Bengali newspaper, died in Agartala late on Friday, family sources said on Saturday.
Guha, 59, was the editor of Dainik Arohan. He was suffering from cancer and is survived by his wife and two daughters.
"Guha had battled cancer for one year. His condition deteriorated during the past few weeks and the end came on Friday," Guha's younger brother Tarun said.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his cabinet colleagues as well as journalists condoled the death of Guha.
"Tripura has lost a courageous editor, energetic personality and a caring human being," Sarkar said.
Guha wrote several books and founded many organisations, including a popular old age home in Agartala.
