The family of Captain Megha Razdan feels the probe into her death is unfair, reports Rahul Singh.

The family of Captain Megha Razdan, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Jammu on July 1, feels the probe into her death is unfair since there are only male officers in the investigating team. The court of inquiry comprises a brigadier and three colonels.

The family wants a woman included in the panel. “The army should have ensured that a woman officer was a part of the inquiry,” Razdan’s mother Shailja told HT. “It would have been easier for us to communicate with her.”

Shailja is convinced there was foul play in her daughter’s death.

But a senior army officer said the inquiry was only a fact-finding mission, and the gender element was of no consequence. Although Defence Minister AK Antony asked the army to expedite the probe, the Razdans fear the army will endorse the suicide theory to protect its image.

The army said there was no question of a cover-up. The Razdans are reaching out to similarly placed families to form a pressure group.
