Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi has ordered a CBI probe into the violence between lawyers and the police that rocked Madras high court, reports MR Venkatesh.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the violence between lawyers and the police that rocked Madras high court on Thursday.
Informing the assembly on Friday that “a CBI investigation has been ordered”, state Law Minister Durai Murugan said the decision followed acting Chief Justice of the high court Justice S.J. Mukhopadhyaya’s advice late last night on the steps to restore peace in the court complex. Though Karunanidhi was in the hospital, recuperating from a surgery, he offered to personally meet Mukhopadhyaya, Murugan said quoting from the CM's letter to Justice Mukhopadhyaya.
