The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has condemned the state government for deporting Praveen Togadia, the international working president of the outfit.
The party said chief minister Omar Abdullah had annoyed nationalist forces in an attempt to appease separatist forces and Afzal Guru's supporters in Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, VHP state president Ramakant Dubey said separatist leaders like Yasin Malik were sojourning in Pakistan, while the chief minister was busy marginalising the minority community in the state, denying nationalist leaders to enter Jammu.
“Omar Abdullah seems to be obsessed with forces inimical to the state and who have put Kashmir on the boil over Afzal Guru's hanging; he is ensuring that no nationalist leader ventures into the state for furthering the discourse of the nation's betterment,” said Dubey.
He further held Abdullah responsible for conceding to the separatists and anti-nationals in Kashmir to keep his political aspirations alive, alleging that the state government had been acting as the greatest impediment to Hindu sentiments.
He said anti-national voices in the Valley had always fomented trouble in the state.
“We had sought permission for Togadia's visit and programmes to be held in Jammu a week before; the government had accorded its sanction too. He was deported at the last moment without our knowledge against which we are submitting a memorandum to the Governor as well as the President of India also,” informed Dubey. Later, an effigy of the chief minister was burnt by the VHP activists amid shouts of anti-Omar slogans.
