CM's move to go on fast on lawyers-police standoff a 'farce'
Slamming CM M Karunanidhi's move to go on fast on the lawyers-police standoff, AIADMK leader Jayalalitha dismissed it as a "farce" and said it showed his inability and he was unfit to continue as Chief Minister.
Slamming Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's move to go on fast on the lawyers-police standoff, AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa on Monday dismissed it as a "farce" and said it showed his inability and he was unfit to continue as Chief Minister.
Karunanidhi's announcement on Sunday calling on the two to bury the hatchet, proved he had no control over the police force and "neither he is aware who holds the control," Jayalalithaa alleged in a statement in Chennai.
"He has announced on going on fast if the lawyers and advocates did not bury the differences. This shows his inability and therefore he is unfit to continue as Chief Minister," she said adding the announcement to go on fast was a farce.
"Who is the root cause for the attacks on advocates? Will the government compensate those who were injured in police attack, pay compensation for the cars damaged by police? What action has been initiated against the police?" she asked.
Recalling his advice to police "not to fall prey to the conspiracy to topple his government," she charged that by making an appeal to police, he had proved he had no control over the department and demanded his resignation.
"Dissolving the Assembly is the best possible solution now for the people and Karunanidhi," she said.
