Cong disapproves of Mani Shankar Aiyar’s remark on Paris attacks

The Congress on Monday distanced itself from party leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s remarks on the deadly terror attacks in Paris and advised him to make statements after careful consideration.

Aiyar had on Saturday said, “The anti-Islam phobia that is being carried out in the western countries should be stopped immediately. The Muslims living in France should be provided with the assurance that they are also citizens of the country.”

Aiyar had added, “In addition to expressing remorse, we should also think why this situation has arisen? Whatever the ISIS has done is extremely condemnable and by claiming responsibility for the attacks, they have shown their ego which will not be accepted by anyone.”

His party was quick to dismiss his remarks.

“We do not want to associate with Mani Shankar Aiyar. He should make statements after careful consideration. In no way, you can justify... It was an inhuman action in which so many people have been killed,” Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said.
