Cong, JDS join hands for RS polls in Ktk
The Congress and JDS have reached an understanding on supporting each other to four RS and seven Legislative Council seats in Karnataka.
The Congress and JDS have reached an understanding on supporting each other in the biennial elections to four Rajya Sabha and seven Legislative Council seats in Karnataka.
As per the understanding, Congress will contest two Rajya Sabha seats, while JDS would contest two Legislative Council seats and the Congress one, sources in the two parties said.
From the Congress, former Maharashtra Governor and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, S M Krishna and Anil Lad filed their nomination papers today, Congress sources said.
BJP contestants for the Rajya Sabha, Prabhakar Kore and Rama Jois also filed their papers.
Former Union Minister, M V Rajasekaran (Congress) filed his papers for the Legislative Council Elections.
BJP has fielded candidates, including Home Minister V S Acharya, for four Legislative Council elections.
"With the JDS-Congress joining hands in the elections, all the candidates are expected to be elected unopposed, not necessitating polls on June 26," the sources said.
