Congress Govt soft towards militants: BJP
The BJP also termed the visit of Shivraj Patil to the Northeastern states as an eyewash.
Terming the visit of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to the Northeast as an "eyewash," the BJP on Monday alleged that the Congress-led government at the Centre as well as in Assam are becoming "soft" towards militants with a view to win elections in the state.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, V Satish, the BJP's in-charge of Northeast affairs alleged that the Congress governments are neglecting national security by going soft towards militants because of political compulsions.
Referring to current visit of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to the Northeast he said nothing much can be expected from his visit, which he termed as an "eyewash".
He said the BJP has already started preparation for the assembly election in Assam.
