Congress wins Orissa assembly by-poll

The Congress party's Purnachandra Majhi wins Laxmipur assembly by-election by bagging 41,070 votes.
The Congress party on Wednesday won the Laxmipur assembly by-election in Orissa with its candidate, Purnachandra Majhi, getting 41,070 votes.
The candidate of the state's ruling Biju Janata Dal got 40,586 votes.

Polling in the constituency, spread over the districts of Koraput and Rayagada, was held April 12.
The seat had fallen vacant following the death of Congress legislator Anantaram Majhi, Purnachandra Majhi's father, in November last year.
