Constables who arrested Bangladeshi couple caught taking bribe
The two constables are charged of seeking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the owner of the house which the Bangladeshis' had rented out.
The two constables from Jawahar Nagar police station who succeeded in arresting a Bangladeshi couple and their four-year-daughter from Bhudhanagar area in Aurangabad, were found behind the bars after two days, on charges of seeking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the owner of the house which the Bangladeshis' had rented out.
The two constables, Kuwar Singh Gowardhan Jadhav and Keshave Chauthe, had played an instrumental role in detecting the illegal migrants from Bangladesh, who were later booked and taken into police custody. While one of them, the twenty-three-year-old Bangladeshi woman had been working as bar girl at a busy restaurant in Aurangabad, her husband worked as a small time painter.
The couple had been living in Biddhanagar locality, for over eight months, in a house owned by one Sahebrao Bhikaji Jadhav.
Soon after the arrest of the Bangladeshis, the two constables turned their attention to Jadhav, saying there was enough ground to implicate him in the case. "We can charge you for knowingly sheltering illegal migrants," Kuwar Singh told Jadhav, while assuring him that he could spare himself a lot of trouble if he could pay them a sum of Rs 50,0000.
Not knowing what situation he was into, Jadhav sought the intervention of one Jalinder Shinde, who tried to talk to the police constables about Jadhav's innocence. The constables, however, said all they could do was to lower the bribe amount down to Rs 10,000. "That is the least I can do," Kuwar told Shinde. Shinde, agreed but from there went straight to the Anti corruption Bureau. The next, inpector Ashok Rajput of the ACB, caught the two constables red-handed as Shinde passed on a bribe of Rs 10,000 to them.
