Cops booked on graft charges

The Haryana state vigilance bureau has caught alleged mediators Sarfaraj and Sube Singh red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 8.5 lakh on behalf of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Vinod Kumar and head constable (HC) Raj Kapoor, posted at CIA, Sector-10, Gurgaon.

An official spokesperson for the bureau said in a release on Friday that the bureau had got a complaint from one Jahir Ahmad, a resident of Panchsheel Vihar, New Delhi, that the ASI and the HC were demanding Rs 10 lakh from him in lieu of absolving criminal charges levelled against his son Islam, who was involved in other cases as well.

He said a case was registered against them in Gurgaon on July 23, while arrests of the ASI and the HC and further investigation of the case were in progress.
