CPI-M demands recalling of Envoy Ronen Sen
The LS has been adjourned over Sen's remarks in the US dubbing critics of the N-deal as "headless chicken". Manmohan stands firm| What lies ahead...
The CPI(M) on Tuesday demanded that the Indian Ambassador to the United States be recalled for his reported remarks on Parliamentarians opposing the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.
"We have an Ambassador in Washington, who seems to be the Ambassador of President (George W.) Bush, not the Ambassador of India. And if the government has any self-respect, it should immediately recall him," CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat told reporters in Hyderabad at the airport.
Karat has left for Mudigonda, the scene of police firing on July 28 that left seven persons dead during a bandh called by the Left parties as part of their agitation in the state for distribution of land.
He would unveil a memorial for those killed in the firing incident and also address a public meeting, as a prelude to the second phase of 'Bhooporatam' (agitation for land distribution) to be launched by the Left parties on Wednesday.
