Dadara and Nagar Haveli records highest voting

Polling began on a dull mote for 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat and two constituencies of UT Daman and Diu & Dadara and Nagar Haveli.

Polling began on a dull mote for 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat and two constituencies of Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadara and Nagar Haveli on Tuesday. But at the end of the day, Dadra and Nagar Haveli did very well and recorded highest voting percentage in the county.

Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani was among the first to cast his franchise at Khanpur area of Shahpur assenbly segment under Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, from where he is seeking re-elction for the fourth time.

Advani was accompanied by his wife Kamla and daughter Pratibha.

Among those who cast their ballots included BJP's Kashiram Rana (Surat), state unit president Rajindersinh Rana (Bhavnagar) and Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela.

According to reports, very few people were seen in the polling booths in the first two hours.

In the walled city, women voters outnumbered their male counterparts.
