David Beckham has another close shave

David Beckham seized the front pages of all of Britain's popular tabloids Tuesday by simply having a haircut. Beset by continuing allegations of extramarital flings, the Real Madrid and England soccer star appeared in London Monday night with a freshly shorn scalp, attracting maximum attention to yet another show of unity with his wife, Victoria.
The front pages of The Sun, the nation's biggest-selling daily, and the Daily Star showed Beckham planting a kiss on the forehead of his beaming wife, the former "Posh" Spice Girl. The Daily Mirror fronted a picture of Victoria looking adoringly at her husband, while the Daily Mail and the Daily Express preferred the couple striking a fashionable pose.
The pair's appearance at a private party at the Royal Albert Hall in London smothered coverage of a second televised interview with Rebecca Loos, Beckham's former personal assistant, who claims they had a 10-day fling.
Beckham has called her story "ludicrous."
Back on the field on Tuesday, Beckham was forced out of a Real Madrid training session with what appeared to be a left thigh injury. Beckham began limping shortly after practice started and, after being treated by a club doctor, was helped off the field. Since the stories of adultery broke two weeks ago, the Beckhams have very publicly appeared smiling and united on the ski slopes, shopping in Madrid, at home in suburban England, at dinner and now partying in London.
The Daily Mail devoted an inside page to five pictures of the couple posing, under a skeptical headline: "So is Posh trying too hard?"
Loos, in contrast, got little attention for her live interview Monday on the "Richard and Judy" TV show.
Loos, 26, suggested that she wouldn't have had a fling with Beckham if his wife had settled with him in Spain after he transferred to Real Madrid.
"I feel that if there hadn't been a gap in that bed, I wouldn't have been in it," Loos said.
Max Clifford, a public relations executive who is advising Loos, was quoted in Monday's Evening Standard as saying Loos so far has made media deals worth 800,000 pounds (US$1.44 million), including 350,000 pounds (US$630,000) for an exclusive interview with the News of the World, the Sunday tabloid which broke the story. Beckham's hair exerts a peculiar fascination in Britain, and each style change is attentively covered. Recently he had worn his hair long, but other variations have included a mohawk, spikes and cornrows.
