For fans of high-end gaming and multimedia professionals things cannot be better than this as the speedy quad-core processors are like four computing 'brains' inside a single microprocessor, satiating the crave for performance.
"In November 2006, we took multi-core to the next level by launching Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5300. We have sold over one million Quad-Core processors to date globally and now with the launch of desktops from HCL, quad-core technology is going mainstream," Intel Sales & Marketing Director Rajesh Gupta told PTI.
To push the product's sales, HCL has tied-up with Tata Group's electronic retail stores Croma and set up special experience zones at the outlets in Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
"HCL has always been in the forefront to introduce new technology and now we are the first to launch desktops on Intel Quad-Core platform in the range of Rs 40,000-90,000 for different configurations," HCL DGM TA Srivatsan said.
Independent reports by various industry association state that Indian animation, gaming and special effects industry will require more than 30,000 trained animators and gaming professionals. Another report pegs the gaming market in India to touch USD 424 million by 2010.
"Apart from performance, the quad-core processors would also cut energy usage by as much as 40 per cent," Gupta added.
